Dustin Meredith, PE | Principal Engineer | Trane

Dustin Meredith is a Systems Development Engineer for Trane. He develops and optimizes next-generation systems utilizing his expertise in fans, acoustics, air system design and overall system optimization.
 
Dustin joined Trane in 2000 as a Marketing Engineer and has spent most of his career in Applications Engineering. He holds multiple patents and has been instrumental in advancing cutting-edge fan and motor applications to industry. Dustin has authored a variety of technical engineering bulletins, white papers, Trane Engineers Newsletter articles and Trane Engineers Newsletter LIVE programs.
 
Dustin is a registered professional engineer and earned his mechanical engineering and computer science degrees from the University of Kentucky. He continued his education with an MBA from the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky. Dustin is currently an ASHRAE Section Head and serves on the “Fans” and “Sound and Vibration” technical committees, including as past Chair of the latter. He is Trane’s voting member for Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc. (AMCA) and serves on a number of AMCA committees.
 
Dustin lives with his wife Melissa and twin boys in Lexington, Kentucky.
Brian Hafendorfer, PE | Systems Development Engineer | Trane
 
Brian began his career with Trane in 2000 spending 8 years as a product engineer focusing on the design and development of air handling systems with a specific focus on air heating and cooling coils.  Since joining the systems and applications engineering team in 2008, Brian’s role has been to develop and support integrated customer solutions for HVAC products & systems, providing a link between the sales, design, and manufacturing organizations.  Filtration and air cleaning, indoor air quality, heating and cooling coils, and variable refrigerant flow have been Brian’s primary interests.  He has authored whitepapers and articles on a variety of topics that have been published around the world. 
Brian is a licensed professional engineer and earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. He is an active member of ASHRAE receiving the Distinguished Service Award and the Chapter Service Award for his continued support in moving the industry forward.  Brian has served on multiple ASHRAE committees as subcommittee chair for SSPC 62.1 – Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality, past chair of TC 2.9 Ultraviolet Air and Surface Treatment, and as a member of TC 2.3 – Gaseous Air Contaminants and Gas Contaminant Removal Equipment.  Brian also is the current treasurer for Region VII and has served as the advisory panel chair for ISO TC 142 Working Group 2 – UVC technology.
