NFPA 13: Updates and Standards to Fire Protection Engineering
Kentucky was one of the pioneers of Fire Protection Engineering in the United States. This presentation will discuss the history of fire protection and how these codes/standards have evolved into what it is in modern-day. NFPA Standards – 13/14, standpipe design, wet-pipe sprinkler systems, dry pipe sprinkler systems, fire pump design, and occupancy use groups will be some of the items also discussed. These systems serve a critical part in an ever-changing building environment that changes with jurisdiction. With life safety becoming a key element in building design today, Fire Protection is among the most important today.
